As well as boosting both your body and your mind, a daily dose of raw cacao powder has many other health benefits.
Here are five delicious and easy ways to enjoy your cacao.
1. Simple warm cacao (serves 1).
Pour some boiling water into a mug containing one to two teaspoons of raw cacao powder and stir. (add a little sweetener like maple syrup if you need to). Add a dash of almond, oat or hemp milk and you have a rich hot chocolate to warm you up on cold days or nights.
2. Cacao & maca hot chocolate (serves 2).
In a blender, mix 2 1/2 cups almond, oat or hemp milk, 2 TBS raw cacao powder, 1 TBS maca (we recommend Seleno Health Maca), 2 TBS maple syrup (or to taste), 1/2 tsp coconut oil, pinch of cinnamon and tiny bit of salt. (You can also whisk this together by hand). Transfer to a medium saucepan and heat. Taste and adjust the sweetness if desired. If it's too thick, add a little bit more almond milk.
3. Spicy Aztec cacao drink (serves 1).
In a blender, mix 2 TBS raw cacao powder, 1 TBS coconut sugar, 2 pinches of nutmeg, pinch of cayenne, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 ginger powder, pinch of salt, 1 cup almond, oat or hemp milk, 3/4 cup hot water. Make sure to cover lid of blender with a cloth due to high heat of drink.
4. Super creamy iced cacao drink (serves 4).
In a blender, mix 400 ml organic coconut cream, 4 tsp raw cacao powder, 4 tsp coconut sugar or maple syrup. Pour into a container and pop into fridge until cold (or add a few ice cubes for instant satisfaction!). Once chilled, pour into 4 large glasses and enjoy! Perfect for summer.
5. Cacao & mint smoothie (serves 1-2).
In a blender mix together 1/2 banana, 1 cup coconut water, 2 TBS raw cacao powder, 1 handful almonds, 1 handful mint, 2 TBS maple syrup (or more!), 2 cups ice cubes. Blend for 60 seconds or until desired consistency is reached. Serve and enjoy.
